The Top 5 tips to Great Baking
The festive season is definitely a great time for baking. For all those who have baked their own Christmas cake and yummy batches of crispy cookies it sure has been fun. For those however, who have wanted to do so but have had to satisfy them with looking at the cookie store down the lane or the foodie blogs of enthusiastic bakers, I sure know how depressing it can get.
Baking is fun for me. Just a few years back the idea of baking was not so interesting. I guess the initial baking adventures of mine washed off all my enthusiasm and positive thinking. Baking is a lot fun and when you have put together all the ingredients, put it into the oven and have a creative delight when the timer rings; can be a real high. The aroma of freshly baked goodies, the tasty bite that you would soon bite into and of course the treat to the eyes that it offers is simply amazing.
For me today, baking is great fun and my way of expressing my creativity. It is also a low effort cooking technique as you are not tied down to the stove. You have time to finish the errands around the house once you have put your bowl of ingredients into the oven.
There is a friend of mine who is a wonderful baker. Her cakes can actually put a professionally run bakery to shame. Her trick to getting it right is, for her every baking recipe is like a chemistry experiment where the right measurement and the proportions are very important. There is a whole wide world of baking out there waiting to be explored. So here are my top 5 tips for baking beginners to get started:
-First and foremost, get yourself a good set of measuring spoons and cups. Measurement is the key to getting your baking right. Select the recipe that you would like to bake and stick to it thoroughly especially the very first time. Once you get it right you can customize it to your tastes.
-Invest in some good bakeware, the tolls do matter to some extent, especially when you are a beginner it is better to start the right way. This does not mean that you get yourself the most expensive things around. Look around quality does not always mean a huge price tag.
-For the right texture and great results , it is best to keep all your baking ingredients out of the refrigerator and bring it to room temperature before using it. Sift your dry ingredients to ensure that they are properly blended and also to avoid any lumps that could hamper the taste and feel of your baked delight.
-Know your oven. It is important to know your oven. Although the temperatures and time given in most recipes generally work, however, the exact time required may vary from oven to oven. It is important to keep a watch over your dish(especially the first time) while it is baking, only then would you know the exact time required for baking the dish in your oven.
-Baking is an art. You may not get the best results the first time itself, however, practice does make perfect. Have patience and try the recipe again, do not loos heart with one mishap, you are sure to get it right.
